Welser.
Special steel and non-ferrous profiles, roll-formed to order in Austria by an eleven-generation family mill. Steel–plastic composite sections deliver optimal thermal separation; a modulus of elasticity three times that of aluminium carries larger glass with slimmer steel. The substrate behind BlackFramed's most demanding window and facade work.

The Mill
Austrian steel.
Eleven generations.
Welser Profile is a manufacturer of high-quality special profiles and complex assemblies, produced by roll-forming steel and non-ferrous metals. A family organisation now in its eleventh generation, it has drawn more than twenty-five thousand distinct profiles to date across five production sites and 784,000 square metres of manufacturing floor. For windows and facades, that depth of tooling means a section can be drawn to a project rather than a project bent to a stock section — the reason BlackFramed turns to Welser when an opening asks more of steel than a catalogue allows.
Roll Forming
One mill,
any section.
Shaped progressively through contoured rollers rather than a single die — letting Welser roll in features extrusion can't: knurling, tapering, gaskets, and steel–plastic composite cores. Every window part is drawn to the project, finish-ready for coating.

- 01. Decades of roll-forming — knurling, tapering, complex geometry in one pass.
- 02. Steel–plastic composite parts — thermal separation built in.
- 03. Highest surface quality — finish-ready for coating.
- 04. Wide material range — cold-rolled, brass, weathering, stainless.
- 05. 3× the stiffness of aluminium — longer spans, larger glass.
- 06. High load capacity in a slim visual face.
- 07. Weather-proofing engineered into the section itself.
- 08. 25,000+ profiles drawn — new sections tooled to order.
Steel vs. Aluminium
Why architects
choose steel.
Designers and architects often prefer the better-looking, more functional and lower-cost steel profile over aluminium. The advantage is structural before it is aesthetic — and it compounds across every opening in the elevation.
Larger glass, slimmer steel
Three times the stiffness of aluminium lets a section span further and carry more glass on a thinner face — the slim sightlines steel architecture is known for.
Composite thermal break
Steel–plastic composite parts separate the indoor and outdoor halves of the profile, holding warmth inside without surrendering the rigidity steel provides.
Endlessly formable
A far wider range of designs than extruded aluminium allows — knurling, tapering and integrated features roll-formed into one continuous section.
Applications
One profile family,
three envelopes.
The same roll-forming line that draws a window section draws the mullion of a facade and the leaf of a door. Weather-proofing, load capacity, and a slim face carry across all three.

Material Grades
A wide range
of metals.
Welser roll-forms a broad selection of material grades — each delivered at a surface quality fit for direct coating. Specify by climate, by patina, or by feel; the profile is drawn the same regardless of substrate.
