Solid hot-rolled steel profiles, 3–5 mm thick, made by the original late-19th-century hot-rolling technique. The thick section allows large openings with minimal frames. Not thermally broken.
Ottostumm W50 TB · Thermal Break
Same sightlines and section design as W40, in 1.5 mm cold-formed galvanized steel with a cast polyurethane thermal break. Meets international energy-efficiency codes — the system for conditioned exterior openings.
Choosing Between W40 and W50 TB
W40 for interiors and sheltered or unconditioned exteriors. W50 TB wherever the door separates conditioned space or must meet energy code. Identical section design, so both can be used in one project with no visual break.
Glass & Glazing Beads
Insulating glass to 31 mm on W40, to 38 mm on W50 TB. Four glazing beads per system. Gaskets are self-adhesive non-shrinking on W40, mechanically fixed rebate on W50 TB.
Finish & Material
Any RAL or custom colour on both systems, so finishes match. W40 can also be left in a “natural steel” finish for an industrial interior look.
Hardware & Opening Types
Exclusive fittings in contemporary and reproduced modern-era designs. Both systems cover side-, top- and bottom-hung, pivoting, sliding and folding. W40 adds tilt and turn, including a concealed mechanism; W50 TB takes 16 mm friction hinges.
Lead Time & Installation
Made to measure. 12–14 weeks from approved shop drawings, plus freight. Arrives pre-hung and glazed. Field measure and installation drawings included.
Can W40 be used outside?
Yes, in sheltered or unconditioned exteriors. For conditioned openings, specify W50 TB.
Is W40 or W50 TB slimmer?
Neither — W50 TB reproduces W40's sightlines exactly.
What is the actual difference in construction?
W40: solid hot-rolled steel, 3–5 mm thick. W50 TB: 1.5 mm cold-formed galvanized steel with a cast polyurethane isolator.
Is the thermal break visible?
No — it is cast inside the profile, concealed by the frame face.
Can I mix systems in one project?
Yes — W50 TB outside, W40 inside. Identical section design means no visual break.
Are these doors ADA compliant?
Yes, with the right threshold, closer and lever specified.

Start with the glazing pattern. Filter by leaf count or character, then set the opening — every door is made to your exact size.
Standard sizes come from this product’s Shopify variants. Custom openings are quoted after engineering review.
Choose your glass
Clear for maximum light; textured or tinted where you want privacy without losing brightness.
All glazing is 6 mm toughened safety glass to interior standards.
Choose your handle
The one part of the door you touch every day. Levers for swing doors, pulls for sliding and pivot.
Levers include a matching rose and interior latch. Pulls are supplied for sliding and pivot applications.
Choose door operation
Handing determines which side the hinges sit on and which way the door swings.
Viewed from the pull side of the door. Final handing will be confirmed during shop drawings.
Choose your finish
Powder-coated steel in matte black, white, or any RAL colour.
Choose your jamb depth
The jamb wraps the opening, so its depth must match your finished wall thickness.
A custom jamb is required for any wall outside the standard depths above. We confirm the final dimension from your site measure before fabrication.
