Warranty

Every BlackFramed door and window is custom-fabricated to your specifications and built to last. The coverage below applies to the original purchaser and protects against manufacturing defects under normal operating conditions.

This Warranty supplements, and should be read alongside, our Terms of Service. All warranties are non-transferable, apply to the original purchaser only, and cover manufacturing defects under normal use.

Before you begin

Coverage takes effect from the date of purchase. Keep your order confirmation and installation records — you'll need your order number to file a claim. Installation by an unqualified installer may void coverage.

BF-S20 Loft Slim — 2 Years

A 2-year warranty from the date of purchase applies to manufacturing defects in the door structure, powder coating, and supplied hardware.

What's covered

  • Manufacturing defects in steel door and window frames
  • Powder coating defects due to application faults
  • Malfunction of supplied hardware (locks, hinges) within the warranty period

What's not covered

  • Rusting caused by damage to the protective powder coating (scratches, dents, chips)
  • Rusting or damage from abrasive or chemical cleaning agents
  • Rusting from exposure to high-humidity environments (bathrooms, showers, saunas, pools)
  • Damage due to misuse, neglect, improper installation, or failure to follow maintenance recommendations

Ottostumm FerroFinestra — 10 Years / 1 Year Hardware

The Ottostumm W-series profiles (W20, W40, W50 TB, and B75 TB) carry a 10-year structural warranty against deformation and cracking of the steel profile under normal use and environmental conditions. Hardware components (handles, hinges, locks) carry a separate 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

  • Deformation and cracking of the steel profile under normal use (10 years)
  • Structural integrity of the frame under rated environmental conditions
  • Manufacturing defects in handles, hinges, and locks (1 year)

What's not covered

  • Damage resulting from improper installation, modification, or misuse
  • Normal wear, surface scratches, oxidation, or finish variation over time
  • Damage caused by environmental conditions outside the product's rated specifications
  • Products installed by unqualified installers or in non-compliant rough openings

Secco Sistemi OS2-75 — 15 Years / 1 Year Hardware

A 15-year structural warranty applies against deformation and cracking of the steel profile under normal use and environmental conditions. Hardware components (handles, hinges, locks) carry a separate 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

What's covered

  • Deformation and cracking of the steel profile under normal use (15 years)
  • Structural integrity of the frame under rated environmental conditions
  • Manufacturing defects in handles, hinges, and locks (1 year)

What's not covered

  • Damage resulting from improper installation, modification, or misuse
  • Normal wear, surface scratches, oxidation, or finish variation over time
  • Damage caused by environmental conditions outside the product's rated specifications
  • Products installed by unqualified installers or in non-compliant rough openings

General Exclusions

Across all systems, the following are not covered under any BlackFramed warranty:

  • Damage resulting from improper installation, modification, or misuse of the product
  • Normal wear, surface scratches, oxidation, or natural finish variation over time
  • Damage caused by environmental conditions outside the product's rated specifications
  • Products installed by unqualified installers or in non-compliant rough openings
  • Glass breakage, sealant failure, or condensation resulting from site conditions
  • Cosmetic differences inherent to hand-finished, made-to-order steel

Care & Maintenance

Following basic care guidance keeps your warranty valid and your frames performing for decades:

  • Clean frames with a soft, damp cloth and mild pH-neutral soap only — never abrasive pads or chemical solvents.
  • Promptly touch up any scratches or chips to the powder coat to prevent rust from taking hold.
  • Avoid installing non-thermal-break (standard) profiles in high-humidity environments such as bathrooms, showers, saunas, or near pools.
  • Periodically check that hardware is operating smoothly and fasteners remain secure.

Limitation of Warranty

BlackFramed makes no additional warranties, express or implied, beyond what is stated above. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Our total liability under any warranty claim shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific product giving rise to the claim. Remedies are limited to repair, component replacement, or credit at BlackFramed's discretion.

How to File a Warranty Claim

  1. Gather your documentation

    Locate your order number and confirmation, plus the approximate date of installation.
  2. Photograph the issue

    Take clear, well-lit photos showing the defect and its location on the frame.
  3. Email us within the coverage window

    Send your order details, photos, and a description of the issue to hello@blackframeddoors.com. Manufacturing-defect claims on delivered goods must be reported in writing within 7 days of delivery with photographic documentation.
  4. We evaluate & resolve

    BlackFramed reviews the claim and determines the appropriate remedy at our discretion — repair, replacement of the affected component, or credit. We do not issue refunds.
