Material Questions Answered
What's the difference between hot-rolled and cold-rolled?
Hot-rolled steel carries visible beauty marks from the mill. Cold-rolled is smooth and uniform, preferred for contemporary systems.
Which material is best for coastal homes?
Stainless Steel 316/L is specified for oceanfront and salt-exposed locations. Its molybdenum alloy provides superior corrosion resistance.
Will steel rust?
All BlackFramed substrates use galvanizing, zinc-passivation, or self-protecting patinas. For coastal climates, we specify stainless or weathering steel.
What finish requires the least maintenance?
Color-coated steel with PVDF finish requires essentially no maintenance. Stainless is also very low-maintenance.
Can I order custom RAL colors?
Yes. Our PVDF system accepts any RAL color or custom match. We provide 100x100 mm samples before production.
Is bronze maintenance-free?
Bronze is a living material that ages naturally. You can seal it or allow the patina to develop continuously.
